Israel has become a vital military factor “in an area that is crucial in the struggle between the forces of democracy and totalitarianism for mastery of the world, ” Gov. Theodore R. McKeldin, of Maryland, declared at a dinner in Woodmere, Long Island, in behalf of the Israel Bond Drive.

Urging widespread support of the Israel bond campaign, Gov. McKeldin told the Jewish leaders at the dinner: “Even the most indifferent among us can no longer ignore what Israel represents, not only in social and cultural pioneering and in industrial potential, but now also in military strength.”
