DUSSELDORF (Nov. 15)
A number of organized groups have joined the “peace with Israel” movement organized recently by Erich Lueth, Bonn Government press chief, and several other prominent West Germans. These groups include the League of Democratic Students, the Co-ordinating Board of the Young Socialists of Hamburg, and a committee of the Berlin Free University.
The municipality of Dusseldorf today appropriated 15, 000 Deutschemarks for the erection of a memorial to Heinrich Heine in Hamburg. A former Nazi Party member has been sentenced to prison for insulting a Jew. The local district court gave Alexander Wrodarcyk a three-week prison term on the complaint of the Jew who was insulted.
The Trade Union Council of Frankfurt today adopted a resolution declaring that the “unions view with anxiety the revival of fascist organizations and the penetration of the political and public life of Germany by fascists.” The Council urged the Trade Union Federal Committee to press for effective legal measures to halt this development.
