Dr. Nahum Goldmann, co-chairman of the Jewish Agency executive today reported to a meeting of that body on the situation of the Zionist movement in America, the movement’s relations with the American Jewish Committee, and the latter’s current policy vis-a-vis the Agency.
Dr. Goldmann also gave the meeting here a breakdown of what had been done sin the last Zionist Congress on implementing Congress resolutions for obtaining legal status for the Agency in Israel, on economic support by the American Jewish community and on the outlook for the 1952 United Jewish Appeal. Dr. Goldmann expressed the opinion that the U.J.A. would do as well next year as this and dwelt on the necessity for achieving an agreement between the U.J.A. and the Israel Bond Drive. particularly on the New York area, to ensure the success of both enterprises.
The Agency co-chairman also spoke of negotiations with the Joint Distribution Committee over the latter’s share of the 1,52 budget of the U. J. A. He insisted upon the need for regularizing the traditional Jewish National Funds drive and for putting the Agency funds in better shape and co-ordinating its fund-raising with that of the Israel Government.
