The Israel Government today accepted a bill drafted by the Jewish Agency providing for the granting of a legal status to the Agency in Israel. The text, which was approved by Premier David Ben Gurion today in a conference with Agency co-chairmen Dr. Nahum Goldmann and Berl Locker, is expected to be submitted to Parliament next week.

At a meeting of the Agency executive, which gave its final approval of the bill, Dr. Goldmann also reported on his recent talks with American High Commissioner for Germany John J. McCloy, but an Agency communique issued after the meeting does not specify whether the Agency reached any decision as a result of Dr. Goldmann’s report. Dr. Goldmann and Mr. Locker are leaving for the U.S. tomorrow morning.
