British Jews Concerned over Attacks on Boys in London Area

The Board of Deputies of British Jews’ defense committee this week-end reported that “there was no evidence” that a number of attacks on Jewish boys in the Hackney district of London in recent weeks “were exclusively of an anti-Semitic or fascist character.”

The Board’s report, however, pointed out that a number of agencies are concerned with the problem and that there is a proposal under consideration to call, under non-Jewish auspices, a conference of youth leaders to discuss the problem. The report also stated that the Mayor of the borough and its representative in Parliament had been interviewed and were deeply concerned by the problem, as were the police authorities.
