Dr. Mendel Sudarsky, prominent leader of Lithuanian Jewry, died at his home here at 66. Funeral services will be held tomorrow.
Born in Lithuania, he studied in Germany and became a well-known eye surgeon. He was graduated from: Berlin University and received degress from a number of other universities in Germany. He returned to Lithuania in 1920 where he became one of the active leaders of Jewish communal life there, while continuing to practice his profession.
In 1937 he immigrated with his wife to the United States where he continued his profession and devoted much of his time to literary work. Due to his efforts an impressive volume “Life” tracing the history of the Jews in Lithuania for centuries until their annihilation by the Nazis, made its appearance last October in the United States.
