Jewish War Veterans Present Gold Medal to Secretary of State

The Jewish War Veterans of America presented their 1951 Gold Medal of Merit to Secretary of State Dean Acheson for his “distinguished services in uniting the free world for peace.” The presentation was made at a dinner in the Waldorf-Astoria at which Secretary Acheson reviewed the course of foreign affairs in the year which conciuded last night.

Mr. Acheson was praised for his work by Paul Ginsburg of Atlanta, national commander of the Jewish veterans organization. Two others received awards at the dinner. J. Edgar Hoover, head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, received, through a deputy, a citation for distinguished service in checking Communism. Former Economic Cooperation Administration Ambassador Milton Katz was honored “for a high degree of statesmanship in his stewardship of United States Economic Cooperation Administration resources.”
