Eight books were dropped today by the Board of Education here from its approved textbook list on the ground that they contained derogatory statements about racial and religious minorities. The titles of the books were not disclosed.

The Board also dropped from its list of books approved for use in school libraries Paul Gallico’s “Farewell to Sport” because of alleged anti-Semitic remarks in it on Jewish athletes. One member of the Board termed Gallico’s book “viciously anti-Semitic.”
