ROME (Apr. 17)
The trial of five Jews charged with causing an explosion in the British Embassy in Rome in November 1948 opened here today. None of the accused are at present in Italy and they are being tried in abstentia.
At the opening of the trial the court was told that the five men were all members of the Irgun Zvai Leumi, the Jewish extremist group in Palestine which conducted terrorist activities against the British prior to the establishment of Israel.
