A literary fund intended to attract young Jewish men and women to writing in Yiddish has been established here by the family of the late Matyas Stoliar, founder and publisher of Di Yiddishe Zeitung, largest Jewish daily newspaper in Latin America, who died last year. The award will honor Stoliar’s memory.
The prizes, awarded for excellence in fiction, biography, essay and poetry, are valued at 3, 000 Argentine pesos for first prize, 2,000 for second prize, and 1,000 for third prize. The awards will be made through the Argentine section of the World Congress for Jewish Culture and the competition will be open only to men and women up to 26 years of age.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
