If the Democratic Party writes an FEPC into its platform Sen. Estes Kefauver, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for the Presidency, will support the plank, the Senator declared here in an interview with the Intermountain Jewish News.

The Senator added that he is “against the oppression of any minority in this country” and that he feels “there is no place in the make-up of our nation for intolerance and bigotry.” He volunteered the information that he is opposed to racial immigration laws and urged that America not close its doors to the oppressed.

Regarding Israel, Sen. Kefauver said that he has always supported aid to the Jewish State and would continue to do so if elected President of the United States. “Israel is one of the outstanding bright spots in the world today,” he declared. Praising Israel’s democratic government, he called the country “a haven for the oppressed which has shown what can be done in other lands.”
