A sub-committee of the Winnipeg City Council has scheduled public hearings on a bill to amend the licensing by-laws of the city to provide for revocation of licenses in cases of discrimination on grounds of race, color or creed.
The bill received strong backing on its introduction in the council. Two delegations, one headed by Dean W.J. Waines of the University of Manitoba, and the other representing the Joint Labor Committee to Combat Racial Intolerance, appeared before the council to support introduction of the bill.
