The City Council of New York unanimously decided to name one of the squares in the city after Itzhak Leibush Peretz, noted Jewish writer, in connection with the 100th anniversary of his birth which is now being celebrated in Jewish communities throughout the world. “Peretz Square” will be located between Houston Street and First Street, in one of the sections of the city thickly populated by Jews.
