Israel Asks U.N. to Investigate Shooting on Syrian Frontier

Israel authorities today called on the United Nations truce authorities to investigate shooting near the Ein Geb settlement, on the Syrian frontier. Syrian authorities explained that the three-hour firing was part of maneuvers.

The body of an Israel soldier killed yesterday by Arab forces near the village of Beth Iksa, in the Jerusalem area, was turned over today to the Israeli authorities. The Arab radio today reported that the Israeli was killed by Arab “home guard units” when a group of Jews allegedly attacked Arabs harvesting in the fields near Beth Iksa. The Arab report added that several other Jews were wounded.

Increased activity by Arab infiltrators along the country’s frontiers was reported by the military spokesman today. He announced that 11 infiltrators had been killed, three wounded and 16 captured by Israel security forces during the past week.
