The left-wing Mapam and Communists held small demonstrations yesterday to protest against the ban of vehicular traffic on the Sabbath. Members of both opposition groups were told to come on bicycles, skates and donkey carts.

Meanwhile, taxi drivers in this city are expected to follow the decision of their Haifa and Jerusalem colleagues to continue normal driving on Fridays and select another day of the week–in addition to the Sabbath–on which to refrain from driving their vehicles. The new restrictions are part of a fuel-conservation program.
