The establishment of a Jewish Martyrs Museum in Belgrade in honor of the 60,000 Yugoslav Jews who perished at the hands of the Nazis in World War II was reported here this week. The museum contains documents and other pertinent historical material dating back some 2,000 years, when the first Yugoslav Jews settled in Croatia and Bosnia. Yugoslavia’s Jewish population today totals some 6,500 persons, some 8,000 having left for Israel in the last four years.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
