Forty witnesses, including 12 alleged members of the Ku Klux Klan, appeared here today before a Federal Grand Jury which began investigating a series of anti-minority bombings here last winter.
The Federal Burean of Investigation entered the ease last December following bombings of a Catholic Church, Negro homes, Jewish synagogues and schools, during which one Negro leader and his wife were murdered. Although Jewish owned property was damaged, no Jews were injured in the blasts. Protests by national Jewish organizations, as well as labor, civic and minority groups, called for Federal action to investigate the crimes and to protect civil rights.
