Twenty-two inhabitants of the township of Viernheim, near Darmstadt, today went on trial on charges of arson and breach of the peace during the night of November 9-10, 1938 when Jews throughout Germany were set upon by Gestapo bands and gangs of local Germans and were beaten and killed and their homes and other possessions damaged and looted.

Dr. Bruno Weil, president of the New York Committee for Fair Play for Auerbach, today told a press conference here that he was dissatisfied with a reply he received from the Bavarian Ministry of Justice regarding his complaint against the judge who presided over the trial of Philip Auerbach. Dr. Weil revealed that his request for disciplinary measures against the judge had been rejected by the ministry.
