Senator Richard M. Nixon, Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, today defended his record on civil rights, and accused the Democrats of starting a false whispering campaign that he is anti-Semitic. "I strongly resent this studied attempt to inject the false issue of anti-Semitism," Nixon declared He cited his support of aid to Israel and his fight in California against a candidate backed by Gerald L.K. Smith as evidence the charge is untrue. He spoke at the Lincoln Denbitz Club, a Jewish organization.
