More than 1,500 delegates representing 700 benevolent and fraternal organizations affiliated with the United Organizations for the Israel Histadrut met here today to map a program to aid the 1952-53 Israel Histadrut campaign for $10,000,000.

Rep. Jacob K. Javits of New York told the meeting that the present United Nations General Assembly session presents a “special opportunity” for the American delegation to help bring about peace in the Middle East. He said that “this is both the time and the opportunity” for U.S. diplomacy to achieve a “marked victory” by bringing about an understanding between Israel and the Arab states. The conference was highlighted by the presentation to Rep. Javits and Congressman Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr., of special scrolls in recognition of their aid to Israel and the Histadrut.
