The Union of Italian Jewish Communities has issued a letter to its constituent bodies advising against their becoming involved with any of the political parties on the current Italian scene, although the letter specifically points out that it is quite in order for the communities to publicly express opinions on such matters as peace or to protest the release of war criminals, the resurgence of anti-Semitism or the rearming of Germany.

The letter was issued following the recent resignation of Dr. Renzo Bonfiglioli as president of the Union over a sharp difference of opinion with the executive of the Union over these and other matters.
