A Communist sponsored demonstration protesting against unemployment and rising prices in Israel passed without incident here today. Most of the 2,000 persons who participated were recent immigrants from nearby work villages.

This is the first time that the Communists have called demonstrations economic issues over the opposition of the Histadrut and the trade unions. In the past, the Communists have only called demonstrations counter to Histadrut policy on political matters. Speakers at the rally called for tax-free cost of living allowances to bridge the gap between prices and wages.
