The desire of the people of Israel to live in peace with their Arab neighbors was emphasized in a statement issued today by General Yaacov Dori, president of the Technion, Israel’s Institute of Technology, who was received here by Mayor Vincent Impellitteri, during the week-end.

“If there is to be competition with our neighbors,” the Israeli educator told the Mayor, “we in Israel would prefer that it be in the fields of science and technology, and in constructive efforts to aid the entire region of the Middle East–an area which is still underdeveloped and backward in the political, social, and economic spheres.” The Technion, he explained, is being rebuilt on a new campus site in Haifa, with the aid of American support.
