Gov. Theodore R. Mckeldin of Maryland and Chief Justice Simon E. Sobeloff of the Maryland Court of Appeals presented President Eisenhower with a framed citation in recognition of his demand for the revision of the McCarran-Walter Immigration Act which he made in his first State of the Union message. The award was presented on behalf of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Jewish Congress and affiliated organizations.

Gov. Mckeldin said they did not discuss actual plans for revision of the Act because there are “other things to talk about,” including an invitation to the President to receive an honorary degree from a Maryland school. The President offered no comment on the Immigration Act when awarded the presentation, Gov. Mckeldin said.
