The State Department this week-end made known that Secretary John Foster Dulles has expressed sympathy for the ”progressive attitude” of the Naguib Government of Egypt and announced a large-scale program in which the United States will assist Egypt in reclaiming wastelands and resettling landless farmers. The U.S. will contribute 10,000,000 to a joint fund to establish an ”American-Egyptian Rural Improvement Service,” it was indicated.
