Israeli authorities, alert to the possibility that Moscow’s exoneration of the 15 physicians may bring a change of attitude in the other Communist countries of Europe, are hopeful that those countries, particularly Rumania, will permit their Jews to immigrate to Israel. The Israelis are also interested in the possibilities that Czechoslovakia may release Mordecai Oren and Shimon Orenstein, two Israeli citizens arrested and implicated in the Slansky affair.
