Plans for promoting Israel fashions in the United States were announced here today in connection with Israel’s efforts to increase its exports to this country. Dr. E. Justice, director of the fashions department of the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel, has made a special trip to the United States bringing with him outstanding examples of Israel’s fashion ideas for the fall season.

Participating in the plans are the Economic Department of the Zionist Organization of America, the Economic Department of the Jewish Agency and the New York office of the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel. They are working in close cooperation with the Israel consulates in this country. Special shows for buyers will be held in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles this month and will be followed by fashion shows to the public in September, when the buying season begins. Twelve Israel manufacturers, members of the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel, will be represented at the shows.

In New York, the Israel Fashion Show will be held on May 12, at the Hotel McAlpin. The showing will comprise a representative selection of smart styling in sweaters, rainwear, coats, gloves, shoes and jersey suits from outstanding Israeli manufacturers. Israel’s fashions have already received considerable recognition in this country as well as in many fashion centers in Europe. This industry is at present selling its products in the United States, Canada, South Africa, England, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Venezuela, Guatemala and Mexico. More than 300 factories are engaged in the fashion industry in Israel and employ many thousands of workers.
