Fifty-seven percent of the Jewish population of Canada is native born, a Canadian Jewish Congress population study has revealed. In the four major Jewish population centers, the native born percentage is: Vancouver, 60; Montreal, 56; Winnipeg 54; and Toronto, 48.

The total number of Jewish immigrants to arrive in Canada during the 1952-53 fiscal year, which ended March 31, 1953, was 5,092, the CJC reported. This compared with 7, 478 during the previous fiscal year. The drop was 32 percent, which compared to 31 percent for the drop in all types of immigrants over the same period.
