The Israeli Defense Ministry, has issued new regulations for draftees which will give immigrants to the Jewish State credit for the time they served in other armies, the Israel Embassy here announced today.
The new regulations, the announcement said, will give full credit for periods of service over 18 months, requiring only an additional three-month period of service to familiarize the immigrant with the Israel armed services and to prepare him for assignment to a reserve unit.
Immigrants who served less than 18 months in a foreign army will be given full credit for the time served. They will merely have to serve whatever time is left after the previous service time has been deducted, the announcement pointed out.
