Israel archaeologists working on the site of Bet Shearim have uncovered graves bearing the names of Rabbi Shimon and Rabban Gamaliel, noted Jewish sages who lived about 2,000 years ago.

The archaeologists are not yet certain whether they are the graves of the sages or of other scholars bearing the same names. It is believed that inscriptions over the graves on the site warning that persons who break open the graves will die, place the age of the graves in the same period as the one in which the sages lived.
