Dr. Israel Brodie, Chief Rabbi of the British Commonwealth, released the following New Year’s message to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency:
“I send cordial greetings for the New Year to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and its many readers, both here and abroad. I trust that in the coming year, its bulletins will report good tidings from Israel and communities in other parts of the world. More particularly do I pray that they will carry authentic news from our brethren behind the Iron Curtain, which will tell of their material well-being and of their complete freedom to renew and cultivate their spiritual and cultural life.”
