The Israel Army’s fall maneuvers continued today with live ammunition and high explosives being used in the first large-scale combined operations war games carried out by the Jewish State’s Army of Defense.
In one operation named for Samson, Biblical giant hero of the Jews, which was carried out in the hills around Jerusalem near the birthplace of Samson, Israeli Spitfire and Mosquito bombers used napalm and high explosive bombs to “soften up” the “enemy” and helped bring the problem to a successful end one hour before the time limit set by the umpires. The “attacking” force consisted of infantry, artillery and armor as well as the bombers, while the “enemy” concentrated heavy and mediur guns and some anti-tank guns to defend their position.
Other operations continue in the southern and central portions of the country. Members of the Cabinet and military attaches of the American, British, French and Turkish missions in Israel and high ranking American and British officers are observing the exercises as guests of the Israel Army.
