A model of Noah’s Ark, carved from an olive tree planted in the King George V Forest in Israel, and a book commemorating the planting of a Queen Elizabeth II Forest in Israel by the Jews of the British Commonwealth, were presented last night to the Duke of Edinburgh at a dinner attended by leading British Jews, the Mayor of London and other British leaders.

The Ark was a gift of Israel, presented by Israel Ambassador Eliahu Elath, while the commemorative volume was presented by Lord Samuel. The Duke, the Ambassador, Lord Samuel and Lord Nathan, chairman of the affair, all spoke of the closeness of the British and Israel nations, while the Duke paid tribute to Jewry’s contributions to all aspects of British life.
