The American Government was urged today to seek an Arab-Israel peace through the appointment of a special United Nations mediator. The request was voiced by Congressman Jacob K. Javits, addressing a conference of the Histadrut drive at the Hotel Commodore, attended by more than 1,000 delegates.
The conference was also addressed by Judge Samuel S. Leibowitz who said: “I think that the United States is taking Israel for granted. The State Department knows full well that Israel will never become part and parcel of the Kremlin orbit. The United States is trying to curry favor with the Arabs on the pretext that it wants to insure that we get an ally, but that type of ally will stab us in the back at the first opportunity it gets.”
