Rabbi Ashinksy Dead; Was Founder of American Mizrachi

Rabbi Aaron M. Ashinsky, a founder of the American and Candaian Mizrachi organizations and spiritual leader of the Chofetz Chaim Synagogue here, died this week-end at the age of 87.

Born in Poland, Rabbi Ashinsky came to this country in 1887 and served as rabbi of congregations in various cities and as chaplain to Jewish prisoners in Montreal. Besides helping to set up Zionist groups in this country and Canada, Rabbi Ashinsky was active in organizing various Jewish communal groups in Pittsburgh. One of his daughters, Mrs. Nachman H. Ebin, is national vice-president of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America, and a son-in-law, Rabbi Irving Miller, is president of the Zionist Organization of America.
