Rev. Charles A. Smith, who presented the report on which the church warning on anti-Semitism was based, called the conference’s attention to recent reports of anti-Semitic discrimination in golf clubs near Glasgow. Rev. Smith sharply reminded the clergymen that the people who discriminated against Jews in golf clubs might very well be members or even lay leaders of the Church of Scotland.
