A plea to the United Nations to enable Jews to approach the Wailing Wall, located in the Jordan-held part of Jerusalem, was voiced here yesterday by leading rabbis following all-day Tisha B’Av prayers at Mt. Zion. For generations, the prayers had been held traditionally at the Wailing Wall.

More than 20,000 Orthodox Jews attended the prayers at Mt, Zion, reciting lamentations over the destruction of the Temple. The plea for free access for Jews to the Wailing Wall was supported today in the Israel press, which carries editorials on this subject.
