Protests are pouring into the offices of the board of directors of the United Jewish Fund and Council here, which recently announced a policy of “sanctions” against members of the Jewish community who do not contribute enough money to the UJFC’s fund drive for local, national and overseas philanthropies.

The UJFC board of directors, however has approved a statement issued last week by the president of the Council, Leonard Heller, explaining the “sanctions” proposal to have all Jewish officers and board members of the organizations removed from their posts if their contributions are deemed inadequate. The Council has sent copies of Mr. Heller’s statement to its 3,800 contributors in this city.
