One Israeli was killed, one was wounded and a third held off a unit of attacking Arab Legionnaires yesterday near the settlement of Bargiora, in the Jerusalem area, it was announced here today.
The three were on guard duty near the settlement when they were jumped by the Arabs. The uninjured man succeeded in holding the Arab Legionnaires at bay for two hours by keeping up an incessant fusillade. This despite the fact that the Arabs used automatic weapons and rifles. At last, during a respite, he succeeded in dragging his wounded companion back from the scene of the encounter to Mevot Beitar, another settlement in the area.
