Brig. Gen. Moshe Dayan, chief of staff of the Israel Army, expressed his “regret,” in a letter to Maj. Gen. E: L. M. Burns, head of the United Nations truce organization, for an incident that occurred last week when Jewish soldiers fired at a UN jeep patrolling the border in the Latrun area. No one was injured in the firing. According to Gen. Dayan’s letter, two soldiers manning an outpost had noted a suspicious movement and fired several warning shots.
