The Jewish Telegraphic Agency has been attacked in a Yiddish broadcast over the Warsaw radio for “spreading lies” about the position of the Jews in countries behind the Iron Curtain.

The broadcast alleged that “as far back as in 1947, the JTA reached an agreement with the State Department to spread lies and biased information about Jews in the Peoples Democracies in return for American dollars.” Expressing indignation over the fact that the JTA reported that Jews in Poland are being forced to become workers in heavy industry, the broadcast asserted that they are joining the ranks of the workers with “enthusiasm.”
