Israel earns enough sterling to enable it to purchase books in Britain without the British Government making special arrangements for “book funds,” Major R.H. Turton, Parliamentary Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, declared in the House of Commons. Replying to queries from various MP’s, Major Turton said that there were no funds available in the budget for helping Israel purchase British books. However, he noted that a special arrangement was in effect to aid the export of certain technical and legal books from this country to Israel.
