The 34th annual convention of the Mizrachi Organization of America opened here today with more than 800 delegates from all parts of the country participating. The convention, which will last four days, will mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the American Mizrachi movement.

Rabbi Mordecai Kirshblum, national president of the Orthodox Zionist organization, said in his opening address that the role of the United States in the Middle East is “disturbing. ” He charged that the assurances given by Washington that the Arabs will not use arms received from the United States against Israel are nothing but “paper reassurances.”

The convention received a message of greetings from President Eisenhower in which the delegates were congratulated on the “completion of the 40th year of spiritual educational and civic endeavors.” The gathering will be addressed by Dr. Joseph Burg, Israel Minister of Posts and Telegraph; Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Jewish Agency, and other leading personalities.
