Israel’s first oil tanker, the S.S. Yarkon, left the port of Fireas, Greece, today for Odessa to pick up a cargo of Soviet oil, the owners of the vessel announced here today.

The 10, 000 ton vessel, formerly the Panama vessel S.S. Emile, will make semi-monthly runs between Tel Aviv and Odessa. It is expected that the cost of transporting the oil in an Israel-owned tanker will be lower than in vessels of other nations.
