Israel’s pro-American foreign policy was severely attacked here last night at a meeting of the national council of the Achduth Avoda Party, which recently split from the left Socialist Mapam Party. The attack was made by Israel Galili, one of the national leaders of the party, who also hit the Mapai for allying itself in a national coalition government with the centrist General Zionists and the Mizrachi.
Yigal Alon, one-time leader of the Palmach, striking force of the underground Haganah movement, and a member of the leadership of Achduth Avoda, ridiculed former Premier David Ben Gurion’s proposal for the formation of a broad national “pioneering front.” Mr. Alon rejected Mr. Ben Gurion’s suggestion, insisting “our goal is the establishment of a Labor government of all Zionist-Socialist parties.” Mr. Alon said the party now had 3,000 members organized in 300 branches.
