Secretary of State John Foster Dulles reacted favorably this week-end to suggestions for the appointment of a deputy administrator of the refugee relief program and an expediter in Europe for the program, both to be recognized leaders in the immigration field. The suggestions were put forward by a delegation of leaders of Protestant, Catholic and Jewish voluntary organizations doing immigration work.
Mr. Dulles also promised to give consideration to a third proposal–that an advisory council of representatives of governors’ committees on immigration, farm and labor groups and volunteer agencies be named to aid the State Department Administrator.
