British Foreign Secretary Harold Macmillan and Secretary of State John Foster Dulles discussed here the question of Communist arms supplies to Egypt last night. Mr. Macmillan was a dinner guest of Secretary Dulles.
Late Saturday afternoon, Secretary Dulles received Israel Ambassador Abba Eban for a 15-minute talk. A joint statement later said that “the situation created by the prospective sale of arms by the Soviet bloc to Egypt” was covered during the discussion. Diplomatic sources later reported that the Israel Ambassador was told that the “clarification given him a few days earlier by George V. Allen, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, still held good.
