Dr. Dov Joseph, Israel Minister of Development, expressed confidence here today that oil production in Israel “will play an important role in our future economic development.” Here to participate in the Israel bond campaign, Dr. Joseph told a press conference that Israel has an urgent need for an accelerated flow of capital. He stressed that this was particularly important “now when we are confronted with a serious crisis in our relations with some of our neighbors.” He noted that Israel cannot solve its problems “unless we have a sound basis in economic strength. We cannot absorb 50,000 Jews from North Africa within the coming year unless our economy continues to grow. We need a steady flow of Israel bead dollars.”
