The Indian Jews of the tiny village of Venta Prieta, about 80 kilometers from here, have issued an appeal to the Jewish institutions of Mexico for aid in the rebuilding of their synagogue which was seriously damaged by a flood. About 50 observant Indian Jewish families live in the village and their appeal was for 15,000 pesos ($1,150) for the repair of their synagogue, which, like all buildings of the village, was made of clay and sand.
