The Netherlands Government has instructed its Ambassador in Brussels to aid in the extradition of the sisters Elisabeth and Gertrude van Moorst, both of whom were involved in the kidnapping of Anneke Beekman, Jewish war orphan.
Elisabeth van Moorst was sentenced to a year’s prison term by a Dutch court last month and Gertrude van Moorst to eight months. Elisabeth was sentenced in absentia and Gertrude fled the country after sentencing. Both are believed to be in Belgium, together with the Jewish girl whom they spirited out of Holland when a court ordered them to turn her over to the Jewish community. They cared for Anneke when her parents were sent to a Nazi death camp and brought her up as a Catholic.
